The first thing you should know is God still loves you. That's right, he's seen our lives. Our best moments and accomplishments, he's even shared in our joy. He's also seen all the other stuff, you know the bad stuff. Self-centeredness, unhealthy addictions, hatred, bitterness and the like. Yes all of it. Can the one who has made our very eyes not see everything? Even so he would not have made us if he didn't love us. Our biggest problem is not our vices or circumstances it's ourselves. At the end of the day we are responsible for most of our own problems or at least how we deal with them. Whether it's our own arrogance or ignorance we must learn to accept that God is the best candidate for head of our lives.
It all starts with him. We all must come to the point where we put our faith to the test and really start acting on it. We will say we believe in Christ and claim we are Christian, Catholic or a believer but do we really live like it? In order for our faith to be more than words it really has to have some substance. Look at relationships; they are built on trust, love and friendship. Do we trust God enough to live by his principles laid down for us in the Bible? Or are we still picking and choosing our way around obedience to his word? What about love, are we letting ourselves feel the love of God? Or are we still punishing ourselves or claiming that our sins are to great for him to look beyond? Can you honestly say that Jesus is your friend? Friends share their lives with each other. They speak frequently and enjoy each others company. God's offer to us is that of friendship but also so much more. He is offering the most intimately perfect union ever known to mankind. He desires to hurdle over the well meaning but often ineffective religious tendencies to engage in a love affair that will transform your life and give you the meaning we all desire in life. God has accepted you and loves you. He is asking you to receive his spirit, to become one of his true sons and daughters.
This time I mean it. If you feel you're ready for this life changing experience or are just tired of the turmoil of living your own way, pray with me now. It is very simple and I believe God is with us right now.
GOD, I AM PRAYING TO YOU NOW AND BELIEVE THAT YOU HEAR ME. I WANT YOU BACK IN MY LIFE. I'M SORRY FOR IGNORING YOU. I'M SORRY FOR MY SINS. FORGIVE ME LORD. I ASK YOU NOW THAT YOU WILL SEND YOUR HOLY SPIRIT TO LIVE IN ME. BE MY LORD AGAIN. CHANGE MY LIFE FOR YOUR PURPOSES. I BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST THE SON OF GOD AND WILL LIVE FOR HIM FROM THIS DAY FORWARD. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU HAVE DONE FOR ME. IN JESUS NAME, AMEN.
The next steps. If you have just entered into a relationship with God, congratulations! This is a beautiful moment and I know just how awesome it feels to know God has forgiven all of your sins and washed you clean. The next steps for you my friend are start reading the Bible as soon as possible. I suggest reading in the New Testament to learn more about Jesus by reading Matthew or John, read Romans to learn more about how we should live as Christians and continue to learn the Bible as much as you can. Reading is still the best way to get the knowledge and wisdom directly from God. Now that you are a son or daughter of God the Bible will begin to really make sense to you. It will open up in new ways to you. Prayer is also key. Not a day goes by that we should not stop and pray to our God. Remember we are in a relationship with him and he wants to spend time with us. Try to set aside a certain time during your day to read and pray. This will be vital in your growing up in your faith and life. God bless you and don't ever give up on following God. Remember with Christ he loves us and knows we will mess up here and there so don't give up after a few scraped knees.
